Applying for AMP approval from Gmail
Last updated: March 11, 2026
AMP emails will default to the static fallback unless the sender is added to a special whitelist maintained by Gmail. To join the whitelist, applications must be sent for each sender address. Zaymo will take care of this once Klaviyo access is given to “support@zaymo.com”; Approvals to the application typically take 5-10 days.
Detailed instructions are below if you wish to apply on your own.
How do I check if my sender address is approved for AMP from Google?
How to register with Google to send interactive emails
If you give Klaviyo manager access to “support@zaymo.com”, Zaymo will apply for Google’s AMP whitelist on your behalf.
Zaymo does not recommend you follow this process on your own. However, if you wish to apply on your own, Google has published steps here, and a summary of the steps are below.
Make sure you have access to an AMP template in Klaviyo from your Zaymo account manager
Create an email list to send your template to be approved
Open Klaviyo > Audience > Lists & segments > Create New list
The list should have 3 contacts in it:
Create and send test campaign to the list we just created
Navigate to Campaigns > Create Campaign
Make the “Recipients” the list you just made
Continue to Content > Drag n Drop
Choose any interactive email that is production ready. Gmail requires that the template look like an email truly going out to customers
Write a subject line as if it were a production email
Continue to Review > Schedule or Send > Send Now
Once email is sent/received, suppress the yahoo and gmail emails
Go “Audience”
“Lists and segments”
Click on list we made earlier
Manually suppress yahoo and gmail contact
“Email” is your account managers email or ‘support@zaymo.com’
“Approved domain” is the sending domain we’re trying to get approved
For Use cases you can write abandoned cart, newsletters, reviews, etc.
Answer the Yahoo questions as below
Skip mail.ru questions
Finish the Gmail questions as below
6. Gmail will send a confirmation of approval email in 5-10 days from **noreply@google.com** to the emails listed above. Zaymo will alert you if “support@zaymo.com” receives confirmation on your behalf.
FAQs
What happens if I’m not yet approved?
If your sender address hasn’t been Google approved yet, don’t worry. Sent emails will still render as the fallback (what they would’ve been rendering as anyways previous to you using Zaymo). You can and should still send interactive emails during this period as the interactive version of the email will render in Apple Mail inboxes. Once the sender address is Google approved, the emails will immediately start rendering as interactive in Gmail/Yahoo inboxes.
How do I check if I’m approved already?
To check if you’ve been Google AMP approved, you can go into Klaviyo and send yourself the test AMP email you (or the Zaymo team) used to apply for Google AMP. If the email renders as interactive, you know you’ve been approved. You’ll know it rendered interactive if the small lighting bolt icon is in the top right of your email (see below for example).
How do I preview an interactive email before my domain is approved?
Before your domain is approved, you can approve a sender address for testing in your Gmail account. To do so, first go to Gmail, click Settings > See all settings > Dynamic email: Developer settings. Type the sender address in the box and hit Save. Your inbox will render any new interactive emails from that sender address. This setting does not apply to previously sent emails.
Do I need to do this more than once?
The whitelisting is a lifetime whitelisting for that specific sender address (ex: hello@mydomain.com); however, each individual sender address (hello@mydomain.com vs support@mydomain.com) must individually apply.
If you’d like to verify whether a sender address is approved or not, follow the steps listed above in question #2 or reach out to your Zaymo account manager, and they can do it for you.
